On Tuesday 16th October the Millbrook Academy Cross Country team were in action at the annual district championships at Plock Court. It was a challenging afternoon for running with heavy ground and high winds but this did not stop our students performing exceptionally well.

The first race off was the year 7 boys who had to complete and 2 mile course. The boys from Millbrook Academy set off at a sensible pace and managed to maintain this for the whole race picking off many runners in the latter stages and demonstrating the sort of determination and commitment we aim for. Overall positions for the year 7 boys were as follows; Anthony Andrews 22nd, Sam Herridge 37th, Jack Hancock 64th, Luke Barnes 65th and Brandon Bowen 67th.

In the year 7 girls race again over a 2 mile course the team performed exceptionally well with Morgan Danter coming home first of the Millbrook Students in 33rd position, followed by Amelia Griffiths in 34th, Abbie Randall in 49th, Kandi Francis in 52nd, Isobel Owens in 60th and Ellie Cole in 61st. A great team effort by the girls. Well done.

In the year 8 and 9 combined events the boys and girls both did themselves proud with Jamie Hatton the star of the show in the boys event finishing in 27th, Jordan Stevens was not too far behind finishing in 27th and James Harding completed the trio in 68th. Well done to the boys particularly to Jordan who was competing when feeling pretty unwell and against many students in the year above.

In the year 8 and girls race the trio of runners set off a fierce pace, and some maybe paid the price for their speedy start, Crustal Francis managed to maintain a good pace throughout and finished in 22nd position, with Sammie Poole (63rd) and Keavy Morgan (64th) completing the days events.

Well done to all those involved, we look forward to coming back next year and pushing ourselves further up the leader board!
