Home ›Millbrook Student Set For Olympic Trials
Year 9 student, Ryan West, has earned the chance to compete at the Olympic Selection trials. Ryan has swum qualifying times which will see him competing in the new Olympic Pool in March, against the best swimmers in the UK.
Ryan will be competing in three events, the 50m, 100m and 400m freestyle in the multi-class event.
Ryan is accustomed to competing in front of small crowds but on this occasion he will be faced with a 13,000 sell out at the state of the art Aquatics Centre.
This is a just reward for the massive commitment and sacrifices Ryan has had to make. He currently trains for nine and a half hours a week.
This will be his first time experiencing a competition of this standard and the experience they gain hopefully will spur them on to try to compete in the Rio De Janeiro Olympic Games in 2016. As an Academy we are all very proud of Ryan and wish him all the best in the competition.
