On 26th June, 48 year 10 Art students, along with 3 sixth formers, Mr Pearce, Miss Parker and Mrs Lane were involved in a trip to Bristol city centre as part of their GCSE Art coursework research on urban decay.  The students took the walk from Cabot Circus through into Stokes Croft, where every street and walkway is full of lively and bold street art. The students’ main task was to create a selection of Photography work, which would then be brought back into the classroom for them to use as a source for their coursework, as well as sketchbook studies.   After visiting Stocks Croft, we then walked to the famous Nelson Street, where further large scale street art pieces could be found. Amongst the street art, students identified pieces created by the famous Banksy and ‘Obey’ Shepard Fairey; as well as other unknown street artists.

Faith Crawshaw – I enjoyed it when we went to the bear pit and took photos and did some observations of the street art.
