The annual Fishpool awards evening was held on Thursday 17th May. The evening is a presentation night to celebrate young black achievement in Gloucestershire.  The Gloucester schools were well represented particularly by Millbrook Academy.  Each school was given a presentation slot to showcase some of their talented performers and the Millbrook Academy slot was one of the highlights of the night.  Head Girl, Saphra Hopkins, was first on stage where she delivered a very motivating speech about her experiences of school so far and about her dreams of going to university and pursuing a career in Drama/Literature.  She then introduced two Year 11 students Monique Rogers and Amy Cranfield who read a beautiful poem which had been written by Monique earlier in the year.  Last but definitely not least was the dance performance of Year 8 girls Crystal Francis and Shakia Squire.  They danced in perfect synchronisation for over 3 minutes and displayed a vast array of different dance moves and techniques.  The response was amazing, when they finished most of the audience were on their feet cheering and applauding.  All of the students that attended received a certificate and Monique Rogers was awarded the well coveted Pam Dennis award for contributions to Fishpool over the year.  On a sad note it was the final awards evening for Mr. Hill and Mr. Versaci as Fishpool co-ordinators but an excellent replacement for them has been found in Bola Ogun!
