Trip to Wilson Art Gallery
A group of young poets found themselves inspired by art today. As part of the Cheltenham Festivals First Story project, Millbrook Academy students took part in a creative writing workshop at the Wilson Art Gallery.

The Cheltenham Festivals First Story project will see this group of students create their own anthology to be published later in 2016. Their fantastic poetry has been created over a series of workshops, working alongside published poet Cliff Yates. Today’s work was presented in front of an audience at the Wilson Art Gallery, which gave the students a taster for their event at the Cheltenham Literature Festival later on this year.

Laura Wells, an English teacher at Millbrook Academy said: “It is incredible to see how the students’ creative writing has progressed since the beginning of the project – and it was excellent to begin with! I was very proud of them for sharing so confidently their wonderful work with an audience today. We really do have some very talented writers here at Millbrook Academy and I am looking forward to seeing the finished anthology at the book launch in the summer term.”
