Millbrook Academy has signed a very exciting three year partnership contract with the renowned Touring Consortium Theatre Company. The Touring Consortium Theatre Company was formed 17 years ago, with the aim of touring high quality dramatic productions with integrated education programmes to ten regional theatres in the UK, one of which is The Everyman Theatre in Cheltenham. Millbrook has been involved in a number of projects with The Everyman in recent years, which have enabled students to work with professional actors and to perform in professional venues. This partnership will extend this, and will benefit Millbrook students in their studies of Performing Arts and Literature, as well as widening their experiences.

The partnership agreement means that Millbrook students will be able to see the Touring Consortium Theatre Company’s next five productions at The Everyman, and will be able to take part in two workshops led by professional actors for each production. The workshops will take place both in school and at The Everyman. In addition, Performing Arts students will produce their own drama based on the themes of the plays, and will have the opportunity to perform their work at The Everyman. They may even have the chance to take part in the Touring Consortium’s productions, as part of the Company’s plan is to involve local performers in their productions as much as possible, acting alongside the professionals.

Recent productions by the Touring Consortium Theatre Company have included “The Diary of Anne Frank” starring Christopher Timothy and “To Kill a Mockingbird” starring Duncan Preston. The first production Millbrook Academy will be involved with is a brand new stage adaptation of “To Sir With Love” in October 2013.

We are very excited about the opportunities this partnership will offer to Millbrook Academy students, and are looking forward to working closely with the Touring Consortium Theatre Company.
