Millbrook Hockey Festival Hits the Spot

A cold afternoon in February did not dampen the spirits of 60 primary school children from Coopers Edge and Brockworth Primary schools as they came to Millbrook to sample the outstanding facilities and coaching on offer for our 2013 Hockey Festival.

In conjunction with our partners from the University of Gloucestershire, who provided four enthusiastic coaches, the Millbrook PE Team delivered coaching sessions and a mini tournament for the year 5 and 6 students.

The afternoon started off with games of Shower and Toilet Tag – great fun but also hockey related I assure you, where all the students showed a great sense of enthusiasm and fun. From here the coaching started with a focus on dribbling and passing skills. With the hard work out of the way it was time to put into practice the skills learnt and play some hockey!

All the games were played in great spirit, and the University of Gloucestershire coaches ensured they all ran smoothly. Some future hockey stars were clearly on show and despite the chilly weather the primary school children all thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

A big thank you to the staff from Brockworth and Coopers Edge for making the effort to come, and also to the University of Gloucestershire for assisting with our coaching. We look forward to welcoming more of our primaries in the summer for our Athletics and Rounders/Cricket Festival!
