On Thursday 15 May students from Millbrook, along with students from The National Star College went to Cheltenham Town Hall to take part in the Cheltenham Festival of Performing Arts. The festival has been running since 1926 and this is the second time the two groups have joined together to compete.

The students have come together on Tuesday mornings since January and were one of four groups from across the county to have entered the open age class theme section. This class requires the groups to present a programme based on one of three themes. The performance has to include a variety of performance skills and should be linked together smoothly, but does not allow full stage costume or staging. The class is specifically for performers with a range of disabilities, and the Millbrook students have worked alongside the National Star College student to develop a creative performance piece as an inclusive group. The chosen theme was “Hot Under the Collar”. Other groups in the section were from The Butterfly Garden, VIA Dance Company and St Martin's 6th Form Centre. After all four performances the adjudicator David Owen Bell gave his feedback on all groups.

The Millbrook/Star College group were awarded 2nd place. Well done to students involved –
