Science is alive and kicking in our new super lab!

The new Science Building was officially handed over to Millbrook Academy on Friday 21st September. The ‘super lab’ is part of a £3.4 million redevelopment at Millbrook Academy.

The lab is kitted out with touch-screen monitors, interactive projector screens and rows of work stations; it is large enough for three classes of students to work in.

Principal, Jan Scott, cut the ribbon on the new Science and Business Centre on Friday lunchtime.

Mrs Scott said: “It’s amazing. The student’s jaws dropped when they saw it. It really does put science back where it should be in the 21st century. I have wanted a new facility here since I started three years ago. The old science block was really dreadful, subsiding and dark and the teachers did a good job keeping science alive in it. Now they have the facility they deserve”.

Gloucestershire County Council used developer contributions to pay for the new block which includes two rooms for Performing Arts, one for PE, an IT suite and Business Studies areas.

The Hall has also been totally redesigned and rebuilt, giving an amazing space.
