Poppy's tribute to Gloucester

posted 23 Nov 2015, 04:56 by Kate Hunt

A young film-maker has created a video tribute to her home city, Gloucester.

Year 8 Student, Poppy Warren is enormously passionate about Gloucester and the surrounding areas where she lives, she is also a massive Gloucester Rugby fan.
She has tried her hand at many extracurricular activities, from street dancing to tag rugby. While still remaining athletic and participating in netball matches for Millbrook, Poppy has turned her attention to other challenges. Poppy has a talent for the arts. In October, Poppy was identified at MBA as gifted in arts and Performing Arts and has subsequently appeared on stage at the Everyman Theatre in Cheltenham in the production An Inspector Calls.

In true Poppy fashion, she is now focusing on pursuing another interest and adding a further string to her bow.  Poppy wants to concentrate on making short films and it seemed only fitting that, because she is so passionate about Gloucester, it would be made about the city.

Poppy's dad said: "We aren't surprised she had done it as she is passionate about rugby and Gloucester. We're proud of her, she's always surprising us with new capabilities."

He said: "Hopefully, this is the start of something for the future with her early desire to work in dramatic productions and directing."

Poppy made the video at MBA, where we are lucky enough to have the facilities to create such a technical work and, as a result, it has sparked a keen new interest for the young lady.

The budding film-maker said: "I really think that when I grow up I would like to be a director but I really like acting and performing too."

Poppy has made a video montage about Gloucester, Gloucester Rugby Club in Kingsholm Stadium, and pays particular attention to one specific rugby player.

Miss Parker, Head of Year 8&9 said: " Poppy is a very bright girl. Definitely one who we will be keeping an eye on because she has such potential."

She added: "Poppy is very community-minded and gives everything a go. She's an absolute delight to teach, very humble and down to earth."
