Special Effects Make Up Workshop

Year 10 Performing Arts students were able to benefit from the expertise of an ex-student this week, when they were visited by Gabrielle Steele, who used to attend Millbrook, and is now studying Film and Media at Newport University.

Gabrielle agreed to come and show the GCSE Performing Arts class some make up tricks which they will be able to use in their own practical work.

Gabrielle started by explaining and demonstrating how to use make up to create ageing effects, using student Faith Crawshaw as her model. The results were impressive! She then went on to show how to create special effects such as bruises and cuts using a variety of techniques, including using wax and stage blood. Year 10 student Casey Wingfield was the brave volunteer for this demonstration. The Year 10 students learned a great deal, and it was lovely to see how well Gabrielle has done since leaving the academy.
