Year 8 Performing Arts students from MBA have won 3rd place in the Cheltenham Festival of Performing Arts following a project undertaken with the Everyman Theatre and the National Star College. Our students worked with students from the National Star College, along with Louise Partridge, Head of Education at the Everyman, to create a performance on the theme “Shadows in the Night”. This was entered into the Theme – Open Age Group Class, which is a brand new class in the Festival this year.

We were very proud of the students, who performed with great poise and professionalism. They have worked with sensitivity and maturity, and were praised for their high standards of focus. The adjudicator gave a glowing assessment of the piece, mentioning in particular the evident team work and the acting skills of those involved. He was impressed with the integration between Millbrook and Star College students, and enjoyed the dramatic beginning and end of the performance. The piece achieved 87 marks out of a possible 100, giving it an overall Distinction, as well as 3rd place in the competition.
