The Success Factor

posted 23 Mar 2015, 07:05 by Kate Hunt
Recently teams of students from Millbrook Academy, All Saints Academy, Pittville School and Rednock School took part in the 2nd Success Factor, BITC (Business in the community) Gloucestershire Cluster event. This was a Dragon's Den type enterprise event and
was based around the groups of students solving business and marketing related problems using their imaginary product as a vehicle.

Teams were made up of 5 or 6 Year 9 and 10 students, many of which were Gifted and Talented students or Pupil Premium, or both.

Representatives from Ecclesiastical Insurance, Lloyds Bank, Magnox and Mitie were present along with staff from each school and representatives from BITC. Four Y12 students (Two from Redknock and two from Millbrook) filmed the day, carrying out interviews as part of a Media Studies assignment with the aim of producing a video of the day.

The business people identified one student from each group who demonstrated Leadership and Management skills during the day. Those students from Millbrook Academy – Chloe Bick and Emily Martin.

All students involved said they felt that the day had help improve their self motivation, problem solving and communication and interpersonal skills.

£10 prizes were received by these students and also those in the winning team. We would like to thank the businesses involved for donating £250 to pay for prizes, food and leadership of the day.
