Ian Mean, Editor-in-Chief of The Citizen, has invited the most talented English students from G15 schools to work on a new and exciting project. His vision is for students to work together to produce a feature inside The Citizen called The Young Citizen, which will include stories about young people written by young people. This edition will be published on 22nd June- the same day that The Earl and Countess of Wessex are in Gloucestershire presenting the Gloucestershire Community Awards at Cheltenham Racecourse. Ian Mean has created the opportunity for the Young Edition of The Citizen to be presented to the Royal couple at that Awards ceremony and will also give them a copy to take directly to The Queen!

Five gifted and talented students from Millbrook Academy are participating in the project. Our young reporters: Will Brown, Ben Davies, Mac Kenneally, Chris Miller (team leader and editor) and Josh Molyneux are very eager and have already planned and drafted their articles. On Tuesday 8th May, the students went to work with representatives of other G15 schools at the GLIC centre. Peter Rowland, Maeve Maxwell and Ian Mean headed up the day, inspiring students to write what they feel passionate about and encouraging them to work together. Although fast paced, the students performed well, networking with students from other schools and re-drafting their articles. It was a very productive day and we look forward to reading their work very soon!
