Work begins on new science facility at Millbrook Academy

Work has begun on construction of a new £2.8 million science block at Millbrook Academy. The development, being built by Willmott Dixon Construction, will offer enhanced teaching and laboratory space.

The new 1300 square metre, two storey extension will provide a superb new facility for the school housing a ‘super lab’, state of the art science class rooms and vocational teaching rooms for hair & beauty and construction skills courses.

Incorporating photovoltaic panels on the roof to generate electricity, the building will be highly sustainable and comply with Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method ‘Very Good’ criteria.

Jan Scott, Headteacher: “2011 was an extremely good year for Brockworth Enterprise School. We achieved our best ever exam results and a very positive Ofsted inspection confirmed the rapid rate of progress being made. The new development is one of a number of changes and enhancements we are making linked to our move this month to Academy status, sponsored by Academies Enterprise Trust (AET). It will offer a fantastic environment for our students to learn and develop their skills.”
