West Side Story

The Sharks and the Jets swapped New York City for Brockworth as they did battle on stage in West Side Story.

Students at Millbrook Academy put on their final performance of the musical on the last day of term at the end of a three-day run. Callum Newman and Jacey Anderson. took the roles of rivals Riff and Bernardo with Lauren Coopey and Nathan Harter playing Maria and Tony.

Performing Arts teacher Jenny Cameron, who co-directed the show, said the students had brought tears to the eyes of audiences with their moving voices. The love story, which is based on William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, included the hits America, I Feel Pretty and Tonight She said: “Their story continues to break hearts with every performance they give.     

"We are just so proud of all of the cast and crew and the amazing amount of work they have put in during the rehearsal period and final shows. The show  was well worth all of the hard work".
