MBA vs St Peters

The Year 7 boys were on the road again as they travelled to St Peter’s for a Friday evening game.

MBA boys got off to a positive start, making some important tackles and showing some strong positions in defence. The side St Peters played was by far their strongest and it wasn't long before they broke the dead lock.

We showed some excellent technique in the scrum and line outs, securing valuable possession of the ball for Millbrook. This positively developed into some good territory for us and after spending 10 minutes in the St Peters 22 we finally put some points on the board through a try by Josh Gilkes.

The year 7's have got 6 fixtures booked in for after Christmas when the light improves so it's important the boys continue to train. Congratulations on a good effort and we wish them all the best for the future matches.

Rugby Tournament

The Year 7 boys were joined by three Year 8 students and participated in a tournament which was designed for Year 8s. They did very well in holding their own against some larger students from St Peter’s and Sir Thomas Rich's.

MBA boys took part in a total of four games playing both schools twice. During the first game the boys challenged St Peters all the way and showed some great flare to draw 7-7. They then played Sir Thomas Rich's school with little break and unfortunately lost, mainly due to tiredness. After a break the boys narrowly lost to St Peters 14-5, however they saved the best to last when they ran out 28-0 winners in their final game against Sir Thomas Rich's school. Some great tries from Aflie Williams, Jacob Harris and consistent kicking from Josh Locke ensured the tournament ended on a positive note for the lads. Most Valuable Player (MVA) of the tournament went to Millbrook's Josh Butt who was superb in not missing a tackle and at times putting some big hits in.

The boys will have additional games before and after Christmas so we wish them all the best for these. It is also really important training is attended fully so the boys can reach their full potential. New players welcomed.

We would also like to thank the parent/carers who came along to support the boys playing, it was great to have the encouragement.
