On Friday 6th December, we were very pleased to welcome Year 5 students from Castle Hill Primary School to take part in a special arts event organised by some of our Year 11 students. The Year 11 students are working towards their Arts Award Silver Certificate, part of which involves demonstrating their leadership skills.

The group planned and organised an afternoon of activities for the Year 5 students, based on the novel “A Christmas Carol”. After a warm up game, the Year 5s split into three groups, and each group had a go at three different activities – acting, using a script the Year 11s had created from a the novel; set and costume design, in which the Year 5s created life sized costume designs for the character Ebenezer Scrooge, and also designed and made theatre sets in cardboard boxes; and music.

At the end of the afternoon, the three groups each performed a Christmas song with percussion accompaniment and then each performed their scenes from “A Christmas Carol”. It was a fabulous afternoon, and was enjoyed by all. Well done to the Year 11s who organised and ran the event so smoothly. They were Miki Chaudhury, Bethany Hamblett, Kirsten Cole, Lauren Coopey, Georgia Gallagher, Faith Crawshaw, Alyx Taylor and Kirsten Griggs.
