Young Writer's Festival at Oxford University

posted 28 Sep 2015, 00:38 by Kate Hunt
On Thursday 17 September, a group of students from Millbrook Academy had the opportunity to participate in the Young Writer's Festival at Oxford University.

The event was organised by the writing charity First Story and gave students the chance to work on their creative writing in workshops run by published authors and poets in the prestigious grounds of Lady Margaret Hall College.

Authors and poets gave poetry presentations and interviews and there were books available for students to buy at a reduced price, which poets and authors were signing on the day.

English teacher, Mrs Wells said. “This was a fantastic day for Millbrook students and a brilliant opportunity to work first hand with published authors and poets. Some of the students were really inspired by the experience and I'm looking forward to continuing that momentum with the Writers in Residence project at Millbrook over the next year, in partnership with First Story and Cheltenham Festivals”.
